This program is all about the 6th biennial exposition, known as the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013 and XPO, convening in the OC Great Park, the first time ever that it has been held outside of Washington D.C. UCI Engineering Professor Mike McCarthy talks about the California Challenge, a series of events matching the performance of automobiles designed and built by teams from local universities, colleges, and high schools. Then, Irvine City Council Member Beth Krom explains the vision and opportunity behind hosting this exposition in our backyard. Representing the Net Zero homebuilding team from Southern California Institute of Architecture and Cal. Tech is, Nicole Violani, who talks about their project among 20 college projects total, which promote the latest designs and utilities in the Solar Decathlon model homes.
